Fun with Volcanoes

So the story I’m working on involves a caldera, so I’ve been doing a little research into volcanoes. And the fun thing about research is that you come across all sorts of cool stuff, even if it doesn’t make it into the story. Anyway, here’s one of those cool things: the science of Krakatoa.

The explosion was so loud that it was heard 3,000 miles away (as the article says, it’s like people in Boston hearing an explosion in Dublin), and it even burst eardrums 40 miles away. The shockwave circled the globe three to four times. Now the volcano in my story isn’t nearly that bad, but this is a lot of cool data to play with. Enjoy!
