Member of the Science Fiction Hall of Fame and winner of the World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement, Gene Wolf is a major figure in the genre community. Perhaps best known for his novel in four parts The Book of the New Sun, Wolf is sometimes intimidating to readers because of his dense but beautiful writing. Thankfully, Neil Gaiman has written a lovely guide, “How to Read Gene Wolf.”
If you’re not ready to jump into a The Book of the New Sun, perhaps you should start here. It’s a short story by Wolf that was just posted on tor.com.
