I saw mentions of this trailer pop up a few days back, but I didn’t actually watch it until today. Here it is:
Starring Antonio Banderas as an insurance agent tasked with investigating robots, and also featuring Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, Melanie Griffith, Dylan McDermott, and Robert Forster, it explores the rise of machines and artificial intelligence as self-aware, alive things. There are elements of Blade Runner, Neill Blomkamp, and Isaac Asimov’s three laws of robotics.
It looks good, but I’ll hold off a bit. These sorts of films tend to be great or crap. I’m having trouble thinking of any that are simply “meh.” Fingers crossed, I suppose. As they say on draft day, this movie has a lot of upside?
There’s no release date yet. This movie is simply making the rounds at film festivals. Keep your eye on it, though.
What do you think?
