A Grabbag of 2012 Goodies

Two quick things for you today. First, although the Decemberists announced that they were going on hiatus, they also announced a double album. The Onion’s AV Club have the track listing. I’m a big fan of this band, and especially their latest album, The King is Dead, so I can’t wait to listen to this one. It comes out on March 13.

Second, the folks at io9.com have highlighted their most expected sci-fi and fantasy books of 2012. I’m a big fan of William Gibson (@greatdismal), but I’ve heard mixed reviews about his nonfiction essays. I’m a huge fan of Paolo Bacigalupi (@paolobacigalupi), but I haven’t read any of his YA. I think I need to pick up a copy of Ship Breaker, and if you haven’t read The Windup Girl, fix that. I also really enjoyed Leviathan Wakes, so I can’t wait for Caliban’s War. Similarly, I really enjoyed The Quantum Thief (as much as it made my head hurt sometimes), so I look forward to the sequel, The Fractal Prince. And let’s not forget John Scalzi’s (@scalzi) latest book.

It looks like 2012 will be a good year, despite that whole end of the world thing. What are you looking forward to in 2012?
