Another Quick Post

OK, so here’s another quick post, also from io9.com. They posted a great link, “10 Writing ‘Rules’ We Wish More Science Fiction and Fantasy Authors Would Break.

io9.com does a great job listing some rules I’ve heard many times–more importantly, they list examples where an author successfully broke the rule. Unlike grammar rules (which should be learned and only broken when you have a really good reason for it), I think these writing rules can and should all be broken–regularly and dramatically. I mean, by the time these rules become well known, readers are bored by them and eager for something new. Publishers and agents on the other hand, well, they may take some convincing. Good, creative writing helps too. Enjoy, and I’ll be back tomorrow.
