Recently, the trailer for “Oblivion” was released. Tom Cruise plays Jack Harper, a man repairing drones and studying the Earth after a devastating war with aliens that wrecked the planet. Humans were supposed to have evacuated the planet, but Jack uncovers a secret that will cause him to rethink a lot about his employer, the war, and more. Check it out.
Also staring Morgan Freeman (as Morpheus’s Dad?) and “Quantum of Solace” Bond-girl Olga Kurylenko, it also stars Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jamie Lannister of HBO’s Game of Thrones) and Oscar-winner Melissa Leo. And directed by the guy who brought you “Tron: Legacy.”
It’s got a part-“Moon,” part-“The Matrix” feel to it. I just don’t know about this one. Maybe I’ve grown jaded after “Prometheus,” but this seems kinda meh and silly to me. He just happens to step on a tiny little trap and get captured? A tiny little trap on the whole planet? C’mon. We somehow beat invading aliens, but we had to leave the planet? We have all this great tech, but the survivors on Earth look like something out of Mad Max? Let me guess, humanity really lost the war, Cruise is a clone/android who thinks he’s human, but is really helping the aliens find and locate the last of the real humans?
What do you think?
Where was the spoiler tag before you revealed the entire plot!?!
