DC I Can Understand, But Austin and Houston?

The DC City Paper published an article in which (according to AshleyMadison.com, the “adultery assistance” website) DC was ranked as the “Cheatingest Place in America” for the second year in a row.

Grammar aside, this was interesting, if not surprising to me. I mean, when you think of DC, what do you think of? Stereotypically, at least, the idea of power-driven leaders with over-inflated egos jumps to mind. And I can see how someone like that could justify an affair (hell, how long has it been since the Petraeus affair? How long since the one before that? And the one before that…). But what is it about DC in particular? I mean, LA and NYC have just as many people with that combination of ego and power. Heck, they probably have more, millions more. Or is it they just don’t go through AshleyMadison.com?

And the article went on to say Austin was #2 and Houston was #3. Austin is a college town. I never would have guessed they would have so many married people looking to cheat. Houston I don’t get either, unless it’s some sort of suburban cheat fest down there. Or maybe too many energy guys unhappy with their trophy wives? This “report” definitely had me shaking my head. What do you think? Leave a comment below.

Of course, I don’t know what it says about me that I have lived in DC, Austin, and Houston more than anywhere else. Regardless, it does make me feel better about my DC-based urban fantasy story. No need to be shy about the sex, I suppose.
