Today’s the day. November 1. NaNoWriMo kicks off today. I can guess how you’re probably feeling. My guess is that you’re excited, ready to go. You’ve got a great idea, and you’re just chomping at the bit to get typing.
But maybe there is also a hint of nervousness. Perhaps you wonder if you can make it the full 30 days.
Look, from personal experience, I can tell you: there will be bad days. You’ll sit down, and nothing will come. And you’ll sit, and you’ll sit, and you’ll sit. Late into the night. And nothing.
Or family will visit for the holidays. Or you’ll decide to go out for a drink with your spouse, and it turns into a few rounds, dinner, and a movie. You’ll fall behind. It happens. But don’t give up. Just sit back down, and keep plugging away.
You may not hit your quota every day, but you 50,000 words is very doable. Just keep typing. Do not give up. Do what you have to do to make it happen. How badly do you want it? Keep hitting those keys no matter what.
Now, I’ve taken up enough of your time. Stop procrastinating.
