Sorry I haven’t checked in for a while. With Halloween, NaNoWriMo, and other things taking up a bunch of my time, I’ve been quite busy.
So why “devilishly good”? Well, first off, Halloween. I didn’t dress up this year. Instead, my wife and I handed out candy to the kids in the building. But the kids were done by 8pm, so then it was time for a cocktail, and flipping back and forth between Rocky Horror and a Nirvana concert that made me feel super old. But at least we still have a ton of candy left over. Perfect NaNoWriMo fuel. How we still have Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups in the house, I’ll never know.
As for NaNoWriMo, it’s going well. I have a few other deadlines that are putting extra pressure on me, but I’m still hitting my quota. Yesterday, if you were on pace, you’d have 6,668 words (666, devilish, get it?). I managed to hit 6819. I’m trying to build up a little insurance because my wife and I are hosting the family for Thanksgiving, and I don’t know how much writing I’ll get done that day.
This year, I have more friends doing NaNoWriMo, and that has helped. The friends who are ahead of me inspire me, and I like seeing the friends who were behind me catch up, and sometimes surpass me. It keeps me writing, every day.
But I will say, my reading has gone way down. I need to work on that. I hate having a stack of books waiting for me. I mean, FORTUNE’S PAWN by Rachel Bach (AKA Rachel Aaron) comes out today, and I was hoping to do a review of it, but I’m only halfway though. Oh well. First world problems.
But speaking of deadlines, I have an article due tomorrow, so I need to get writing, so I still have time for NaNoWriMo later today. Hope everyone is doing well!
